The builder handed these houses over with a keypad deadbolt on the front door and a plain passage knob on the door from the garage into the mudroom, and that combination decides almost every call from these streets. Nobody uses the front. The car goes into the three-car garage, the family walks through the mudroom, and the keypad on the front sits there for four years doing nothing but slowly draining a battery.
